Maria Apruzzese-Pittini

Maria Apruzzese-Pittini was born and grew up in Colonna (Rome). She attended a classical grammar school in Central Italy before dedicating herself to teaching at elementary school. In addition to that, she studied foreign languages at the University of Rome. 

She has been living in Winterthur since 1985. She is a mother to three children and works as a teacher of languages. She lived in Ticino and in Rovereto (Trentino, northern Italy) with her family from 1993 to 1995. For several years, she has taught Italian to high school students and adults.

Since 2008, Maria Apruzzese-Pittini has been working as a teacher of German as a second language at an elementary school in Winterthur.

With regards to painting, she is a self-taught artist. 1993 was the year of her first solo-exhibition at the Brühlgut Forum in Winterthur. Many exhibitions followed in which Maria Apruzzese-Pittini was either grouped with other artists or was offered the chance to exhibit her paintings only, for instance at the gallery “La Balière” and at the “Z-Art”a in Frauenfeld and at the “Kunsthecht” in Steckborn. From 2013 onwards, Maria Apruzzese-Pittini has been exhibiting her art at the “Open Doors” event in Winterthur that takes place in September.
